Plantar Warts: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

What Are Plantar Warts?
Plantar warts are small, rough skin growths that appear on the soles of the feet. They are caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV), which enters the skin through tiny cuts, cracks, or weak spots.
Because plantar warts grow on weight-bearing areas such as the heels or balls of the feet, they are often pushed inward, making them firm, painful, and sometimes difficult to treat without professional intervention.
Although generally harmless, plantar warts can spread, become uncomfortable, or persist for months or years if not managed properly.
